We need a chance to catch our breaths and read\nsomething else \u2013 to know that there is a world out there that isn\u2019t only about\ndeath rates, what the president said or why the greatest country on the planet STILL\ncan\u2019t put more toilet paper on grocery store shelves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I mean,\nseriously! We have developed phones that will video-conference us anywhere in\nthe world and vehicles that are road-tripping around Mars, but even the\nsingle-ply stuff is impossible to come by! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
So for you,\nmy loyal readers (all eight of you), I made it my focus, my challenge, my duty\nto search high and low for the best news that isn\u2019t getting to you. The news\nthat is still happening, but gets buried under the constant barrage of\ncoronavirus\/Tiger King coverage. This is\nactually way harder than I thought. I mean, I figured this would be a cool\nidea, and maybe a LITTLE time consuming, but I\u2019m 30 minutes in and the best I\ncould do was: \u201cHow a small town reacted when its mayor was caught growing\nweed.\u201d Um \u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now, there\u2019s\nno shortage of stories like these: \u201cPandemic answer on \u2018Jeopardy\u2019 has people\ntotally freaked out,\u201d \u201cNow is the worst time to buy internet-connected sex\ntoys, but there are alternatives,\u201d and the story that will keep me from\nsleeping for weeks, \u201cChina snake village scales down as coronavirus prompts\nwildlife trade ban.\u201d A whole village run by snakes?!? Is there a snake mayor?\nAnd how do they drive the school buses? I mean, that is terrifying! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Must try\nharder. Just got to put on the \u2018ole journalism cap and do some heavy searching.\nOK, so here we go \u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s see,\nlet\u2019s see: \u201cHow to not completely hate the people you\u2019re quarantined with?\u201d\nNope. How about Slate\u2019s, \u201cThe groceries that no one wants to panic-buy?\u201d Nope,\nbut this is hysterical. Photos of completely empty grocery shelves EXCEPT for\nthings like: spaghetti made from chickpeas, chocolate hummus (oh, Lord \u2026 who\ngot drunk one night and dreamed that up!?!) or \u2026 shivers \u2026 kidney beans! Poor\nkidney beans. Not even a pandemic can make you popular again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just \u2026 need\n\u2026 more \u2026 time. Come on, Brian. Focus! \u201cWhy soap works.\u201d Seriously? Because you\ncan\u2019t use dirt! And that\u2019s another coronavirus story. \u201cFans are concerned after\nwatching Lele Pons dramatically fall through a glass door while she was\nlearning a TikTok dance\u201d \u2013 I don\u2019t even know what any of that means, but I\u2019m\nassuming it\u2019s another pandemic story. \u201cHow to reseal a bag of chips without\nusing a clip\u201d \u2013 seriously, people, it\u2019s a virus, not the apocalypse. You can\nstill find chip clips at the store! It\u2019s one of the only things you can find in\nthe store \u2013 I read the article in Slate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
